Network Engineer, Event IT (Stockholm, Katowice, Cologne)

As a full-time Network Engineer in the Event IT department, you will be responsible for the design and support of our global production networks.

This includes research, planning, developing, and configuration of new and existing projects/technologies to introduce into the company network infrastructure.
Provide continuous maintenance of new and existing network hardware/software. Follow best practices methods for configuration and security of network hardware/software.
You will join a team of passionate coworkers and support ESL and Dreamhack Productions with your expertise.

The Network Engineer reports to the Director Event IT and is part of our Global Event IT team.
This position will be based in one of our European production hubs located in Stockholm, Katowice or Cologne

What you’ll do:

  • Perform network design and capacity planning
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure network products and services
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery
  • Design to improve our ESL and Dreamhack production networks
    • Production critical products (eg. IEM and ESL One events)
    • BYOC Festivals , with thousands of simultaneous participants (eg. DH Summer/Winter)
  • Enforce network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, related documentation and technical specifications
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide statistics and reports
  • Recommend, schedule and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairs
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team

What you need

Must haves:

  • Proven track record as a Network Engineer or similar role for at least 3 years
  • Analytical mindset, a problem-solving aptitude and most importantly a can-do-attitude that gets people excited inside and outside of the department
  • A high sense of responsibility and acting independently
  • Possess excellent technical problem solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Ability to configure, deploy and troubleshoot Juniper routers, firewalls and switches
  • Proven experience with implementing, administering, and troubleshoot Firewalls (e.g. pfSense/Checkpoint/Palo Alto/Fortinet/Juniper)
  • Familiar with SASE Solutions (CATO, Juniper SSR (128t), Cloudflare)
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP based networks, application transport and networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, GRE, CARP, DAI, BGP, OSPF, QoS)
  • Experience with Network Automation tools (Juniper Contrail/Ansible)
  • Familiar with Cloud Networking (e.g. AWS/Azure/Oracle)

Nice to haves:

  • Worked with Jira / Confluence / Gitlab
  • CCNP, JNCP or equivalent certifications
  • Experience with Linux system administration (Debian)
  • Coding and Scripting Expertise (Bash/Python)
  • Experience in Terraform and CI/CD workflows (GitLab)
  • Willingness to travel and work on weekends
  • Keen gamer/esports fan
